Indiana Choice Scholarship Program

Lafayette Catholic School System is a participating school in the Indiana Choice Scholarship Program (more commonly known as school vouchers). Through this program, families who meet certain guidelines are eligible for a Choice Scholarship.

We believe that our participation in this program is consistent with our belief that “All persons have an inalienable right to a quality education ‘in virtue of their dignity as human persons’ and that all have a right to an education that harmoniously develops their physical, moral, spiritual and intellectual qualities.”

To be eligible for participation in the Indiana Choice Scholarship Program, a student must meet certain requirements. Most importantly, the family must meet the financial requirements and must satisfy one qualifying pathway listed below.

The student received an SGO Scholarship in any preceding school year from one of the five approved Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs). Additionally, the student is a member of a household with an annual income equal to or below the threshold listed in the income eligibility guidelines.

CURRENT FAMILIES AND CURRENT PRIVATE SCHOOL FAMILIES
The State of Indiana has established a tax credit scholarship program (SGO) that can provide scholarship funding through eligible Scholarship Granting Organizations. The residency requirement is the same as those for the Choice Scholarship program, but there is no requirement that the student has attended a public school.

The income thresholds for the SGO Scholarship Program are the same as those for the Choice Scholarship Program.

If you meet the income thresholds for a Choice Scholarship Voucher, but do not meet one of the pathways, please contact Barb Schummer. We will award your student with an SGO award for 2023-2024 so that they can be eligible for a voucher for the 2024-2025 school year.

The student was enrolled in a public school (including charter schools) in Indiana for at least two semesters immediately prior to enrollment at the private school. Additionally, the student is a member of a household with an income equal to or below the threshold listed in the income eligibility guidelines.

A sibling of the student has received either a Choice Scholarship or an SGO Scholarship in a preceding school year, and the student is a member of a household with an annual income equal to or below the threshold listed in the income eligibility guidelines.
The student has a disability that requires special education with an individualized education plan (IEP). An IEP is required for this pathway as opposed to a 504 plan. Additionally, the student is a member of a household with an annual income equal to or below the threshold listed in the income eligibility guidelines.

The student is currently in foster care.
