St. Lawrence Faith Formation

Fr. Summerlin with Kindergarten

The Catholic faith is essential to our school's mission and existence. It is central in all that we do.
Mass
Kindergarten-6th grade students will attend All-School Mass once a week and on all Holy Days of Obligation.  All students will be expected to attend regardless of their religious affiliation. First-6th grade students will attend Mass one other day during the week. Students often perform the roles of the Mass including being readers, altar serves, and gift bearers. Parents and family are welcome to join us for Mass whenever you are able.
Sacraments
Sacramental preparation for First Holy Communion and First Reconciliation occur both in the classroom and through your home parish in first and second grade. Students who have completed sacramental preparation will have the opportunity to receive the sacrament of Confession several times during the year.
Theology
Theology courses are taught during the school day using the Christ Our Life series from Loyola Press. Students study the lives of saints, and the Catholic faith is woven through many other courses. Our parish priests visit weekly to offer instruction and answer students' questions.
Prayer
Prayer is a pivotal part of the Catholic faith. We begin each day with school-wide prayer. We pray before lunch, and at the end of the day. We gather together to pray the Rosary, especially during October and May. Students learn traditional Catholic prayers.
