Junior High Years

Junior High is a time of transition and growth. This is the time when the majority of students face roadblocks. The way in which students manage and work through the roadblocks in junior high become foundational to their development and future success as young adults. The Student Services Department at Central Catholic provides opportunities to address the roadblocks by offering educational workshops, problem-solving meetings with the school team, and/or individual sessions with students. The overall goal is nurturing the whole child in order for students to develop academic and social-emotional confidence prior to entering High School. With an emphasis on the Gospel Values of Community and Integrity, the Student Services Department is committed to building a welcoming, strong, and loving community and ensuring students are acting and speaking with honesty and sincerity.

Student Responsibilities

  • Be an active learner in the classroom. Don’t wait to be called on by your teachers.
  • Become an active part of the Central Catholic community through participation and involvement in school activities.
  • Start to develop and practice self-advocacy skills by asking for help when needed.
  • Develop an organization system that works for you. If you need help with this, be sure to attend the organization workshops offered throughout the school year.
  • Enrich your social relationships by introducing yourself to students you do not know.
  • Demonstrate your independence by staying on top of your work, so your parents do not have to.
  • Begin to envision your future. Take full advantage of activities assigned through Naviance to help you assess your learning style, personality, career interests, and strengths/talents.
  • Be nice to your parents. They mean well and want the best for you.
