Central Catholic Spanish teacher Mrs. Adriana Rojas organized CC's first overseas trip to Spain in many years for our Spanish students this past July. The group had a very full trip with a lot exciting experiences! Some of the things the students did and saw include:
- The walled-in city of Toledo where the group toured the famous Cathedral and visited the Church of Santo Tome and a synagogue.
- The Toledo Sword Factory Damasquinados Suárez.
- An olive farm in Seville where the group learned about oil production and had a unique tasting experience.
- The Plaza de España, the Royal Alcázar, and the Cathedral where Christopher Columbus is entombed.
- The city of Córdoba where they started the day by making a Tapas lunch and learning about the food culture in Spain and a tour of the Mezquita.
- In Madrid, the group toured the Prado Museum of Art, and visited the Retiro Park, Las Ventas Bull Ring, the Royal Palace, and the Real Madrid Stadium to name a few! The group also met up with their exchange student Isa who lives in the city!
- The group celebrated Mass at the Cathedral in Barcelona and toured the Las Ramblas area. Stops along the way included the La Sagrada Família, Park Güell, Montjuïc, a Flamenco Show and the 1992 Olympic Campus.
Special thanks to all the parent chaperones, Mr. Patacsil, Frau Weintraut, and especially Mrs. Rojas, for making this trip one for the ages!
