2023 Knights to Remember

The Knights to Remember award is the highest award given by LCSS to individuals in one of three categories: Distinguished Alumni, Honored Teacher/Staff/Administrator, or Honorary Alumni.

This year’s honorees were Frederick Holzgrefe III, Kimberly Strubel Delaney, Jody Williams, and Lou Fenoglio.

Frederick Holzgrefe III ‘86, Distinguished Alumni
Fritz is currently President and Chief Executive Officer of Saia, Inc., a publicly-traded less-than-a-truckload transportation and logistics company headquartered in suburban Atlanta. Saia employs over 12,000 employees across 48 states.

Throughout his wide-ranging career, Fritz has tried to incorporate the values that he learned while in elementary and high school.

“The great thing about a place like Central Catholic is that you’re grounded in your Catholic faith,” said Fritz. “And those principles are foundational not only to being Catholic but to living every day.”

Kim Strubel Delaney ‘74, Honored Teacher/Staff/Administrator
After teaching for 33 years, Kim became principal at St. Mary in 2011. In her new role, she was able to get to know and interact with children of all grades and assist the teachers as they worked to meet the needs of their students. Kim led the faculty, staff, students, and parents through school accreditation teams, technology-enhanced lessons, the adoption of excellent reading programs, student online assessments, and continuous school improvement plans.

During her years as principal, Kim continued to be not only a school leader but a spiritual one as well.

After 44 years at St. Mary, Kim retired in 2022. She was a wonderful influence on multiple generations of children and left behind a great legacy of love and kindness.

Jody Williams, Honored Teacher/Staff/Administrator
With her heart having always been with St. Lawrence School, Jody was a teacher for 11 years before becoming principal, where she continued to serve St. Lawrence for another 19 years. As principal, she constantly celebrated and focused on the theme of JOY in her school (Jesus teaches responsibility, Others are respected, You are safe). She greeted the students each morning at drop-off and was present for each and every child.

As an administrator, Jody emphasized the importance of building relationships with colleagues, parents, students, and the community. She was an advocate for her teachers, was always willing to serve in any capacity, and often stayed late in the day to help out where needed.

Despite retiring as principal last year, Jody still spends her time at St. Lawrence. She now serves as a substitute teacher, works on the LCSS uniform committee, and attends different events throughout the year.

Louis J. Fenoglio, Honorary Alumni
Lou began his stewardship of service to LCSS in the mid-1980s when Jim Schrader (CC ‘75) recruited him to coach CC Little Gridiron Football. After Lou and his wife, Sally, started their family and the girls were off to school at St. Mary, he began searching for more volunteer opportunities. What followed was 30-plus years of memories in LCSS roles that included being Chairman of the first Development Committee, the first and original Governance Board, the One-in-the-Spirit #8 Campaign, and the Blue Knight Auction. However, he says the best memories were being “Long Lunch Dad” at St. Mary and St. Boniface, where Lou specialized in Catholic Trivia with the students.

In 1986, Lou began his financial advisor career. Thirty-seven years later, Lou, Jim Schrader, and Bryan Stapleton (CC ‘95), are now a Morgan Stanley advisor team. Lou is a FORBES Best-in-State Advisor, and the team was just honored as a FORBES Best-in-State Advisor Team.
