Central Catholic's 65th Commencement

Congratulations to the Central Catholic Class of 2022! There were 65 seniors who graduated this year, with over 90% planning on attending college or entering the armed forces.
 
The class received $3,411,684 in known scholarships, and the individual students were accepted at 64 colleges throughout the country. 
 
Individual students also earned high academic honors and scholarships and athletic honors including:
  • Two students were finalists for the National Merit Scholarship and one student earned the National Merit Scholarship.
  • Three students were awarded collegiate athletic scholarships.
  • One student received the Lilly Endowment Scholarship.
  • Seven students qualified as 21st Century Scholars.
  • One student received a scholarship from Millie's Thrift Store. This is a new scholarship created by Millie's. This scholarship was created to honor two CC high school student leaders who have either shown a great contribution to Millie’s through employment or volunteering OR have amassed an exceptional amount of service hours.
  • Eight students earned a Certificate of Multilingual Proficiency issued by the Indiana Department of Education for Bilingual Proficiency.
  • Forty students earned an Academic Honors Diploma.
  • One student earned the SIA Foundation Scholarship, which awards the scholarship based on the student's GPA, SAT scores, extracurricular activities, personal story, and references.
  • Indiana Academic All-State: Boys Tennis (4 students), Cross Country (2 students), Volleyball (6 students), Girls Soccer (4 students), Football (3 students), Wrestling (1 student), Baseball (1 student), Softball (2 students), Track and Field (7 students), and Boys Golf (2 students). 
  • Ten students earned Indiana Academic All-Conference.
Central Catholic also transitioned to a Latin honors system, recognizing students who earned Summa Cum Laude (4.0 GPA or higher), Magna Cum Laude (3.8 GPA or higher), or Cum Laude (3.6 GPA or higher). Under the new system, there were 8 students who earned Summa Cum Laude, 10 who earned Magna Cum Laude, and 8 who earned Cum Laude. 
 
Additionally, as there was not a valedictorian or salutatorian, the members of the class instead chose two of their classmates to speak at commencement. The class chose Owen Adler and Maria Vawter to speak.
