Central Catholic Arts

Fine Arts The importance of music education at Central Catholic is emphasized in the student’s musical knowledge in the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and physical values that can be learned through music. Central Catholic’s music department encourages that each student feels comfortable and that they are a part of a community and family of learners that strive toward the goal of excellent musicianship. Having music education available to students of all ages allows Central Catholic to excel in the arts and as well as students having the opportunity to be versed in other subjects to which music applies. At Central Catholic we also strive toward new and exciting performance opportunities to see where music can take you in life as well as career opportunities in music after graduating high school. It is essential for every student to have music as an opportunity to express themselves and to learn through music’s central principles. The Central Catholic music programs are involved in the community and surrounding areas to demonstrate to the community that music, and the overlapping elements of its knowledge in all content areas, are an important aspect of every child’s education.
Central Catholic also has a proud support group of parents and community members in our Music Booster’s program. “The Mission of the Central Catholic Music Booster Club is to serve its students by promoting an avenue for a holistic music education that encompasses them spiritually, intellectually, physically, and socially.” (Based on LCSS Mission)

Band Class

The Central Catholic band meets everyday during the week as a regular class period to rehearse. We perform in our local community including Germanfest and small concerts at the Veteran’s Home. The band also participates at Football and Basketball games playing Pep Band music. The band also puts on a Fall Concert, Christmas Concert, and performs at the Fine Arts Festival in the Spring and graduation. Band members also have the opportunity to participate in the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Solo and Ensemble competition in February. This competition allows students to practice solos, duets and more. Students perform for a judge to receive a personal rating and medal. Please contact Music Director, Gayle Daning, at [email protected] for more information!!

The Central Catholic Choir meets everyday during the week as a regular class period to rehearse. The Choir prepares music for Mass each week at Central Catholic and helps lead music during the Mass. The choir performs at the Fall, Christmas, and the Fine Arts Festival in the Spring and also at graduation. Godspell Spring 2023

Each year Central Catholic puts on a Spring Musical. Our productions are fun and energetic and rehearsals are always exciting! Auditions are open to all students at any age level and no requirement is necessary. The Spring Musical is always highly anticipated and is a huge attraction for the local community. The Spring Musical has become one of the center pieces of Central Catholic’s Music Department. Theater productions allow many students to explore new experiences on stage whether it be acting, helping the stage crew, technology crew, choreography, or to help build and manage props, sets, and costumes. The Musical is always an energetic and social time that is a great opportunity for students to build relationships, explore the arts, find their passion and grow in their appreciation of music!
