Meet Tressa (Wykoff) Heath! While at Central Catholic, Tressa participated in basketball, track, and volleyball. She also set three track records: 4 x 400 meter, the 400 meter, and the 200 meter. Tressa graduated from CC in 1997 and played volleyball at Indiana State University for three years before transferring to IUPUI where she finished a BS double major in finance and accounting. “My one regret in life is that I technically have an IU degree. Sigh,” said Tressa.
After working for various accounting firms in Indianapolis, Iowa, and Lafayette, Tressa started her own firm, Heath CPA & Associates, in Lafayette on December 13, 2011. “It's fun and rewarding having clients and working with other professionals that also went to CC. Although when it's an old teacher I have the hardest time using their first name.” Tressa married Drew Heath, a 2001 Jeff grad, in 2009, and they have three kids (Drew 6, Olivia 7, and David 8) who currently attend St. Mary Cathedral. The Heaths love going on vacations, spending time with family and friends, and are Purdue football and basketball season ticket holders.
Tressa has stayed involved in the Greater Lafayette community through volunteering at Junior Achievement where she teaches a class every fall, Matrix LifeCare's clothing room, Heath's Helping Hands, and Big Brothers Big Sisters involvement. Tressa also loves running (she ran the Purdue half marathon this past fall pushing two of her kids in a stroller while her 8-year-old ran the whole thing) and working out at Club Newtone just about every day.
How did your education at LCSS prepare you for college and your career?
I certainly felt fully prepared academically, spiritually, and ethically as I entered college and began my career. A lot of people suggest Catholic school kids are sheltered and not ready for the real world, but that's not the case at all. CC sets you up with a solid foundation and a packed arsenal of tools to use to excel in all areas of life including navigating the tough transition into adulthood and beyond.
The best part was that I made amazing, lifelong friends that I'm still extremely close with. We always tell our kids that you have to find good friends who are truly good people in order to have a good life, and LCSS fosters an environment where that's not hard to do.
What is your favorite memory from your years at LCSS?
I was a sports girl so my favorite memories are mainly to do with the various teams I played on. Today, my kids play with a lot of my old teammates' kids, and it's just incredibly heartwarming.
