Uniform Retailer Questions and Answers
Who is the new official retailer for school uniforms for the Lafayette Catholic Schools?
Effective January 1st, Risse Brothers (Rēs) will be the official retailer for Lafayette Catholic School System uniforms. They are a large uniform company serving the uniform needs of schools nationwide. The company is based out of Cherry Hill, New Jersey. They have a store in Indianapolis near Castleton – 8284 Center Run Dr. Other nearby schools Risse Brothers serves includes Cathedral HS, Ritter HS, Holy Angels, St. Simon’s, St. Matthew’s, St. Richard’s and more.
Why are we changing vendors?
When Carpenter’s Son closed, Many Things purchased their inventory including the school uniforms. They agreed to continue to serve as the local retailer for at least another year. Last year, they were gracious enough to get us through one more school year. A committee was formed to find another local retailer. Three retailers were researched. They either declined the offer or it was deemed they could not meet our needs.
Is the uniform changing?
At this time, the uniform remains the same. The Lafayette Catholic School System accepts only the Elderwear brand of uniform clothing which includes Tom Sawyer, Becky Thatcher and K-12 (good, not as durable) product lines. This clothing performs very well, lasts longer and most items are stain resistant. The only change you will notice is in the crest. Risse Brothers has the ability to embroider the crest, so newly purchased items with the crest will be embroidered and not ironed on. (For any of you old timers, you may remember this is how the crests were originally adhered to the uniforms)
Will we ever have a local retailer again?
The Lafayette community doesn’t appear to have the demand for a uniform store front. Several local businesses have taken on the uniform venture over the years and all agree, the profits are not there to sustain it. We chose Risse Brothers because they carry the Elderwear brand, they are willing to come to us on a regular basis, their local store is still reasonably close, and your purchases will benefit the LCSS.
What benefit is there to the LCSS?
10% of the gross sales annually will be given back to the LCSS. These monies will help to fund the LCSS Tuition Assistance program.
How will I purchase my children’s school uniforms?
Effective January 1, 2012, there are several options for purchasing the uniforms – Risse Brothers will have an online store for us, you can visit or call the store at in Indianapolis, and best of all, they will come to us for a three day Road Show in the summer AND once each month during the school year!
Is there a price difference in uniforms from Many Things?
Did you know Many Things did not provide an annual mark-up on the uniforms this year?  To ease us into the Risse Brothers uniform pricing, all telephone orders, in store sales and Road Show sales will be 10% off through the end of the first week of the 2012-13 school year! Note: Online sales will NOT be 10% off. (Risse Brothers Uniform Price List)
When and where will the monthly Road Shows be held?
The monthly Road Shows will coincide with Market Day and will be held at Central Catholic, 3 pm – 6:30 pm. Mark your calendars for January 17, February 14, March 13, April 17 and May 15.
Will they have the uniforms at the Road Show?
Yes. Risse Brothers will have carts stocked with our uniforms they will roll out of their truck into the school. If they do not have the size you need, they will ship to you from the Indianapolis store at no cost to you. Nearby restroom space is available if your child needs to try on the uniforms. Can I pre-order and have my order brought to the Road Show? Yes, and this will save you shipping costs, too! Call the Indianapolis store 317.570.0898 one full week prior to the Road Show and they will have your order for you at the Road Show.
Can I order online?
Yes. Go to www.rissebrothers.com. Click on Create an Account first. An email will be sent to you with instructions on how to complete the registration for our school. The maximum shipping cost is just $10!
What about returns?
Items may be returned at the store and at the Road Shows. Be sure to leave the tags on the clothing and keep your receipt.
What about alterations?
Risse Brothers does not offer alterations; however, Gina VanSickle, the alterations person for Many Things, is still available to do alterations! She is located at 5123 Chimneylake Dr. (Brookfield Farms). Call ahead 765.426.7414 before dropping off items. There is a 5-day turnaround for alterations. Costs – Hems: Pants $5, Jumpers $6, Skorts $8; Jumper Bib Alterations – Front OR back $2, both $3.
Will there still be a Used Uniform sale?
No, and yes. No, there will not be an annual Used Uniform Sale. Yes, because the Lafayette Catholic Schools Garage Sale located at 626 North Earl Avenue in Lafayette will be selling all Used Uniforms. You can donate your used uniforms to them and they will be on sale throughout the year. Proceeds from the Lafayette Catholic Schools Garage Sale go to the LCSS Foundation. You might want to check out their other items or donate your “goodwill” items to them. Store hours: Monday – Thursday 10 am – 4 pm.
