The contemporary world urgently needs the service of educational institutions which uphold and teach that truth is ‘that fundamental value without which freedom, justice and human dignity are extinguished’ (Veritatis splendor, n. 4). – Saint John Paul II
Our schools are so blessed to have such a vital and active group of parents, grandparents, alumni and supporters. We love our schools — and it shows. We could not keep going without you. THANK YOU!
Catholic Schools across the state and nation are once again recognizing their mission and importance to the Church. Our schools are a very important element of the New Evangelization of the Church. Pope Francis reminds us that the education of our children and young is essential to our Faith.
In previous newsletters and blogs, I have discussed some of the data that shows that Catholic Schools are vital to the Church and society (Pray for our Schools and LCSS – A Promising Future), and it is through the generosity of our community that we are able to continue this work. Tuition alone does not cover the cost to educate our children, and every year we must bridge the gap between what tuition covers and the total cost to educate. It is vital. The Spirit Fund and other annual efforts help to cover that gap.
After nearly closing for good in 1990, Central Catholic reopened after the generous response from parents, the community, alumni, and our parishes. Since 1991, the One-in-the-Spirit biennial campaign has been instrumental in ensuring that our Catholic schools remain a vital part of the Church and of the lives of so many students and families. The One-in-the-Spirit campaign was designed to help keep tuition at affordable levels so more families could afford a Catholic education for their children.
This year, we are making a few changes to One-in-the-Spirit. This essential fundraising effort is now the Spirit Fund annual appeal. While it will be operated annually, its purpose and goals will still be the same. For 2016, our goal is $330,000 or about $345 per student. Your generosity and continued support are very much appreciated. Please consider making a donation or pledge today: Spirit Fund
