In late August we posed two question to the Central Catholic Jr.-Sr. High School student body.
- What do you love most about being part of the Lafayette Catholic School System?
- How has being part of LCSS brought you closer to Jesus?
Answering the questions was not mandatory and all responses were voluntary. Unsure on the quantity or type of responses we would receive, the students impressed me with the number who responded and the thought behind their responses. I know as a parent of four in the school system you sometimes wonder if your son(s) and/or daughter(s) understand why we make the sacrifice to send our children to the Lafayette Catholic School System. I can assure you many of our students understand how special this place is and all of them will understand it with time.
I thought it would be fun to share a sample of the over 100 responses we received. I have left off the names of the students on purpose. This could be your son, your daughter, or one of their friends. Thank you for entrusting us with your children and allowing us to prepare them to be future servant leaders.
Being part of LCSS is such a great experience. Every year I feel closer to Jesus and more connected with my faith. It’s had an effect on my whole family. I love that we get to go to mass at least once a week and that we also get moments in the day where we can just sit and talk to God. LCSS is such a great place to grow up and nurture your faith.
I have been able to go to the heart of our school, the chapel, and talk to Jesus whenever I want. I have also had many opportunities, that public schools don’t, to go to confession, have Mass, and talk about God in a class committed to God. I have learned to be a better Catholic by being able to pray, not just in the morning and after school, but in each of my classes (even in a different language)!
Being part of the Lafayette Catholic School System has brought me closer to Jesus. He is brought into the discussion with everything we do as a constant reminder that He is with us. In every class we talk about God and are allowed to ask questions to better understand our faith.
Being a part of LCSS brings me closer to Jesus every single day. Between praying before every class and the St. Josephs chapel, there’s not a day that I don’t spend time with Jesus. The opportunities to become closer to God are unlimited, you just have to be willing to do it. With the help of the teachers and staff, I am confident that every one has become tremendously closer to Jesus since they came to LCSS.
