Student Aid

A Lifetime of Benefits

Financing a Catholic education is an important decision for every family.  As many parents in the Lafayette Catholic School System have discovered, choosing the LCSS to provide a faith-filled education to prepare their children to live a purposeful Christian life is an investment that will deliver a lifetime of benefits.

Did You Know…

  • 1 out of every 2 LCSS students is awarded some type of Student Aid?
  • 405 of the 969 LCSS students receives either a Partial or a Full Indiana School Choice Scholarship (voucher)?
  • Over 2 million dollars in Student Aid was awarded to LCSS students in the 2016-17 school year?

How Do I Know if I Qualify for Student Aid?

Every family desiring Student Aid must complete a Student Aid application with FACTS, the Student Aid processing company for the Lafayette Catholic School System.  The Student Aid award is based on “family need” as determined by FACTS, and the criteria for the various types of Student Aid.

The 3 types of Student Aid the LCSS most often awards include the:

INDIANA SCHOOL CHOICE SCHOLARSHIP

SGO GRANT

(School Granting Organization)

LCSS TUITION ASSISTANCE FUNDS

To be awarded a Choice Scholarship or an SGO Grant, a student must meet eligibility requirements and the family must meet household income requirements. Registered members of a Catholic parish are eligible for LCSS Tuition Assistance.

Students can be awarded more than one type of Student Aid depending upon the “family need.”

How Do I Apply?

Student Aid applications for the 2017-18 school year can be completed beginning January 1, 2017.  Families applying for ALL types of Student Aid must:

  1. Set up an account and complete a FACTS Student Aid Application online or a paper application available at any LCSS school office or the Admissions and Student Aid office (requires a $30 processing fee).
  2. Provide supporting documents to FACTS including:
    • All pages of the 2016 Federal taxes.
    • 2016 W-2s and 1099s
    • Supporting documents for all other non-taxable income such as child support, social security, unemployment, etc.
  3. The deadline for families with students currently enrolled in the LCSS is Sunday, March 12, 2017. Their deadline for submitting supporting documents to FACTS is Wednesday, April 19, 2017.  There is no Student Aid application deadline for newly applying families for 2017-18.  Families with students new to the LCSS in 2017-18 are encouraged to complete a Student Aid application as early as possible to ensure the maximum Student Aid is available.
  4. The LCSS Student Aid Office will begin notifying families who have completed the Student Aid process of their award beginning April 10, 2017.
