Grades K-6 Application Process

Priority Placement

Application packets for the following school year will be accepted by the LCSS Admissions Director beginning January 1. When space is available after current LCSS students register in April, the following considerations will be taken into account for priority placement for applications received by April 15:

  1. Siblings of current LCSS students and alumni, and children of current LCSS employees.
  2. Children of registered families from the six Tippecanoe County parishes.
  3. Children of registered families in parishes within the Diocese of Lafayette.
  4. Children of registered families in parishes outside the Diocese of Lafayette.
  5. All other students are welcome.

Applications received after April 15 will be considered in a first come, first served order.  When space is not available in a grade, new students may be asked to attend the school where openings exist in that grade or a wait list will be started.

For the current school year, transfer students may be admitted for immediate enrollment to the elementary schools at any time during the school year when space available.

Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten application packets will be accepted beginning Kindergarten Registration Day, Friday, February 17, 2017, 8 am – 1 pm at both St. Lawrence and St. Mary Schools.  Priority placement for kindergarten admission will be given to current LCSS families first, and then to St. Lawrence and St. Mary preschool families, through a pre-registration process. The above priority placement will then be considered for all other applications received at Kindergarten Registration.  After Kindergarten Registration, applications will be admitted first come, first served.

A student entering kindergarten should be at least five years of age on or before August 1.  Enrollment of students not five years old by August 1 is discouraged.  Students younger than five years old on August 1 requesting admission will be evaluated by the School Principal within a month so the start of school.  Admission will be approved if the student is determined to possess the readiness skills necessary to be successful in kindergarten.

Elementary Application Process (K – 6)

Get started in the Lafayette Catholic Schools in 3 easy steps

1.     Submit an Elementary Application Packet to the LCSS Admissions Director

A completed application packet will include:

□    Application form

□    Application fee payable to the LCSS – $50 per child K – grade 6  (The application fee is non-refundable unless is a student is denied admission due to the LCSS being unable to meet the student’s special education accommodations.  The application fee is credited toward the student’s tuition.)

□    Official Transcript (for grades 1 – 6) to include records of academic performance, attendance, discipline, IEP or 504b.

□    Parish Verification & Assistance Form – (one per family)This form verifies your membership at a Catholic parish in the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana.  Parish membership qualifies you for Tier 1 tuition rates and the multi-child Parish Assistance.  The Admissions Office will submit your completed form to your pastor for approval.  If you are a Catholic family moving to the Lafayette area, complete the form and submit it with your application.  Once you choose a parish and register with the parish office, the Admissions office will secure the Pastor’s signature.   Non-Catholic and International students do not need to complete.

□    Baptismal Certificate (provide copy if Catholic and not a member of a Tippecanoe County Parish – one per child)

□    Kindergarten Students Only – Health and Immunization Records Or submit updated records to school office within two weeks of the first day of school.)

2.     Visit with the School Principal – if applying for grades 1 – 6

Contact the Admissions Director 765.474.7500 to arrange a time for your child to meet with the School Principal.  When circumstances prevent a prospective student from meeting with the School Principal in person prior to admission (i.e., moving to the area), parents can sign and submit a waiver allowing the LCSS School Principal to discuss their child’s academic performance with their most recent teacher.

3.     The Principal makes final approval for acceptance of each application.

All new students must be approved by the school Principal, and will be admitted conditionally for one semester.  Approval is subject to change pending receipt of the student’s final records from the previous school.

Contact Admissions Director Angie Schrader at 765.474.7500 or info@www.lcss.org with any questions.
