Funding Options for LCSS Families
Financing a Catholic education is an important decision for
any family. As many parents in our community have discovered, choosing the
Lafayette Catholic Schools to provide a faith based education is an investment
that delivers a lifetime of benefits. To help make a Catholic education a
reality for your children, you may need to consider one, or in some cases all,
of the following funding options. In all cases, students must be accepted
for admission to one of the
four LCSS schools prior to awards funds being distributed.
LCSS Tuition Assistance Program
-
Awards are funded by private donations to the LCSS Tuition
Assistance Fund.
-
Families registered at a Catholic parish and considered to
be in “good standing” by their pastor are eligible.
-
Awards are need based and apply only to tuition charges;
not fees like the All Day kindergarten fee. There are no specific income
requirements.
-
Awards are for one year only. A new application must
be submitted for each school year.
-
To apply, new families should complete and mail a
Student Aid Application. Applications for the following school year are available after February 1. Current LCSS familiy applications must be postmarked no later
than February 28, 2012. Early application for new families is strongly encouraged.
Applications postmarked after July 25th could delay your child’s first day of
school.
INDIANA School Choice Scholarship
-
School Choice Scholarships are funded by the State of
Indiana.
-
The child must be an Indiana resident.
-
The child’s age must be 5 - 22 years old no later than
August 1, 2012.
-
The child must be entering grades 2 - 12 and have attended
public school the previous two semesters, OR a child
entering grades 1 - 12 must have received a SGO Grant and/or a School Choice
Scholarship for two semesters the previous year in a non-public school. Children entering Kindergarten cannot
receive a School Choice Scholarship, only an SGO Grant.
-
A family’s Adjusted Gross Income (2012 Federal Income
Taxes) plus other non-taxable income, such as child support, must be less than
or equal to the Income Guidelines set forth by the IDOE for their household size.
-
Full and Partial Scholarships are available. The
scholarship amount depends upon the public school corporation in which the
family resides.
-
School Choice Scholarships are for one year only, beginning
the fall semester, and may be applied to tuition and fees. A new
application must be submitted for each school year.

for LCSS students.
-
The child must be an Indiana resident.
-
The child’s age must be 5 - 22 years old no later than
August 1, 2012.

The child is entering grades K - 12.

The child must have attended public school for two previous
semesters in grades K - 11 OR the child is entering Kindergarten in a non-public
school OR the child received a SGO Grant and/or a School Choice Scholarship the previous
year at a non-public school.
-
A family’s Adjusted Gross Income (2012 Federal Income
Taxes) plus other non-taxable income, such as child support, must be less than
or equal to the Income Guidelines
set forth by the SGO for their household size.
-
A child receiving a SGO grant may qualify for a Full or
Partial Indiana School Choice Scholarship the following year if the family meets
the income requirements for the Scholarship.
-

tuition and fees. A new application must be submitted for each school
year.

SCRIP
Your everyday purchases can earn you tuition credit when you
participate in one of the SCRIP programs at
St.
Lawrence, St. Mary’s or
St. Boniface parishes. SCRIP cards (like gift cards) may be purchased
for everyday items like gas, groceries, and gifts and a portion of the cost is
accumulated as tuition credit to be applied as a lump sum the following school
year.
SCRIP cards can be purchased after weekend Masses. See
the church bulletins for other times available for purchasing SCRIP.
